OIS Opens On-Campus Passport Office

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

The Office of International Services (OIS) opened a new U.S. passport office on  April 17. IU students, faculty, staff, and the entire Bloomington community may apply for a passport, passport card and, if they wish, have a passport photo taken at the International Services office in Poplars 221. “We have hired and trained three part-time individuals as well as current staff to support the new unit,” said Christina Fidel, associate director of client services.  “We hope to provide a convenient option for individuals at IU and in the Bloomington area, and we intend to make it a friendly, helpful experience for them.”

Applicants can schedule appointments if they wish, though appointments are not necessary.  Students will be able to charge the fees to their bursar account.

The federal Office of Passport Services usually processes regular applications in about six weeks, and expedited applications in two to three weeks.  Processing time varies throughout the year.
