Sandi Lemons Honored with Hertrich Award

Sandi Lemons has worked with international students at IUPUI for 14 years.  She is currently the associate director for student services in the Office of International Affairs at IUPUI.  The Region VI division of NAFSA: Association of International Educators honored her dedication to advocating for international education at IUPUI, as well as her volunteer service to NAFSA, at a bi-regional conference in Indianapolis this month.

The George E. Hertrich Advocacy Award was established in 1997 to recognize a NAFSA member who is an outstanding advocate for the cause of international education within his or her own institution, as well as with the greater community, and demonstrates a willingness to assist colleagues in the field.  George E. Hertrich was a leader in international education throughout his 30-year tenure at Ohio Dominican College.  He was an advocate of international education and scholarship, exchange through technology, and constructive leadership.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators was established in 1948 to promote the professional development of university officials who advise and assist students coming to study in the U.S.  Since then it has attracted a membership of international educators from around the world and currently promotes a large range of opportunities for developing international competence.
